The Go Game is Carbon Neutral The Go Game is in the business of fun. We're not in the business of environmental research or advocacy. But we recognize that our fun-filled business model is only possible because of the healthy climate in which we operate. A healthy "business climate" is dependent on a healthy "weather climate". Today, we flourish! The climate is good. However, it has become clear that the most dangerous potential threat to our happy situation is the likely consequences of global warming. Our job of making the world more fun and functional will become extremely difficult if hurricanes start hitting Boise every month, Germany gets engulfed by a glacier, our home office in San Francisco goes underwater, and the global economy grinds to a halt in the face of unprecedented flooding, starvation, and a worldwide war for land and energy resources. If something like that actually happens, we will still be here, perhaps working out of a cave in the Oakland hills, doing team-building events for those remaining companies who manufacture life rafts and bicycle-powered air conditioning units. However in order to avoid this whole "disaster" scenario altogether, we are working to prevent further global warming by reducing our carbon dioxide emissions to zero.
We are carbon neutral. That means that we keep track of how much greenhouse gas emissions we are responsible for (340.6 tons of carbon dioxide last year), and then we "neutralize" those emissions by spending money to develop alternative sources of energy. This is done by purchasing "carbon offsets". For more about what a carbon offset means, click here.
